The Founder, The journey, unfiltered
A project that's 30 years old.
Surfers Village Paris wasn't born in a PowerPoint, or from an AI. It comes from a teenage vision that matured for thirty years, from paper to project, from project to building permit. Here's the journey, unfiltered.
Christophe Bouquin
Three facts, to set the scene. The full story comes right after.
30 years
of surf passion & wavepool vision, intact since teenage years.
Webcam-HD → GoSurf.fr
creator of Webcam-HD.fr, now GoSurf.fr, France's #1 surf media (15 years).
12 ha secured
5 min from Paris-CDG, to carry Surfers Village Paris.
The journey · unfiltered
Thirty years, in ten steps.
Personal account, in the first person. Because a 30-year project can't be summarised in bullet points.
First contact with the ocean
Water, from the very start, splashing around, and I love it.
At 5, first ride on a bodyboard. That discovery, that sensation, never left me. The ocean became my reference, my metronome, my rule.
First lesson, a real spark
The sport, the only one that matters.
At 12, first real lesson. The take-off, the drop, the glide. Surfing became the sport. The only one that really counts. An obsession.
The wavepool vision
The idea arrives.
An artificial wave, near Paris, accessible all year round, the idea is born, fuelled by that first basin at Étampes, dream-seller. Not as a fantasy: as a necessity. The vision stayed. On standby.
Travels, surf, work
The vision in dormancy.
Between 14 and 30: I travelled, surfed, worked, lived. Without realising it, my whole life was structuring itself around surf, chosen destinations, encounters, professional sparks. The vision didn't move. Nor did the urge to have a wave in Paris.
First modern wavepools
"This has to be done."
The first wavepool technologies emerge, Wavegarden, then others. The teenage vision resurfaces. The project becomes possible again.
In parallel, I create Webcam-HD.fr, which becomes GoSurf.fr. France's #1 surf media. And I take this opportunity to say "Thank you" to everyone who was there and supported me through that adventure.
First attempt, another founder
Engaged. Then stopped. Not broken.
I commit to a project alongside another founder. Our visions diverge, after three years, the context doesn't allow it to be carried through, it was too far ahead of its time. The vision stays intact; the method has to change.
Restorative pause, COVID
Process, analyse, restart.
Three years to understand why it didn't work, what to keep, what to rebuild. Then COVID in 2020, another forced stop. But the project doesn't die. It rebuilds, differently, in my head.
Worldwide deep-dive
Understand everything. Choose what matters.
Three years studying every surfpark project worldwide, open, under construction, abandoned, refused. Understanding models, mistakes, successes. Identifying what really needed to be done for Paris.
The name, self-evident
"Surfers Village Paris."
The name appears, self-evident. The shell fills through conversations: SurfPark, School, Pawaii, Membership, The Hive, Sports, Health Centre project, hotels & residences. What stayed blurred for 9 years becomes legible in a single name. Crystal-clear.
The project becomes presentable
From blurred to visible.
Since 2016, I'd talked about the project to family, friends, mayors and deputies. What was clear to me wasn't to others. This winter, it unfolded. Pitch, site, figures, 3D, everything fell into place.
But not thanks to me alone: I laid the first sketch; a duo of accomplices and a first-hour partner brought the vision to life.
What follows, building-permit filing, final studies, construction and the Village opening on Target 2030-2032, is documented on the roadmap.
Thirty years I've carried this wave in my head. Thirty years it has never left me. This second half of 2026, it will finally meet the world.

The Advisors Circle
A trusted circle in the making.
Surfers Village Paris is led by a single founder, surrounded by a circle of advisors chosen for their expertise, real estate, surf, hospitality, sports medicine, financing, legal. This circle is being built progressively as the project advances.
FELLOW TRAVELLERS, 10 YEARS BY MY SIDE
Those who've been around for a long time.
Before the advisor circle under construction, there are those who've been following the project for ten years or more. No formal engagement letter: a presence, advice given at the right moment, a call when it matters. Fellow travellers who step in as backup on the subjects where they are most useful, real estate, surf, finance, hospitality, law, sports medicine, community.
Their names are not displayed here out of respect for the informal nature of their support, and because their presence is worth more than a signature. I also take this opportunity to thank them.
★ CIRCLE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Eight expertises identified to surround the project
The advisor circle is being built around the project's key expertises (financial, real estate, legal, urban planning, adaptive sport, surf industry, hospitality, sports medicine). Full composition communicated as commitments are formalised.

★ The meeting point, H2 2026
Catching this wave with me.
You are an investor, elected official, federation, operator, journalist, future member — or ready to become Patron / Sponsor of the project? The second half of 2026 is the right time to talk directly: understand where I am, what I'm looking for, how we can move forward together.
Patrons & Sponsors
Putting your name and your network at the service of the Village.
Patronage is a non-financial, non-legal commitment: lending your public credibility, opening doors, recommending, advising informally. It is a form of moral support and shared expertise, distinct from investment and from the structured advisor circle. Patrons and Sponsors will be published as agreements are signed, out of fairness to each prospective figure.
This conversation constitutes neither banking or financial canvassing within the meaning of Article L.341-1 of the French Monetary and Financial Code, nor a subscription offer within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/1129. It is an exploratory meeting between project sponsor and interested parties.
